Download Linux Software Installer

The Linux Software Installer allows you to easily install software directly from your web browser and from .deb packages located on your computer. Just follow the three simple steps below to add our repository (database) and begin using our site and installer. If you encounter any problems or errors please visit our Tutorial or Contact Us.

* Note: The Linux Software Installer is not required to use this site as long
as the AptUrl extension is installed (Ubuntu 7.10+) and our custom
repository added to your software sources. Technically you don't even
need to add our custom repository, however several packages
not provided by your default repos may then fail to install.

STEP 1:  Add Our Repositories (Database)

Novices should use the Software Sources dialog located in the Synaptic Package Manager settings. Commandos can take the quicker route and just add our source to the bottom of the '/etc/apt/sources.list' file with a preferred text editor. Be sure to add the correct repository and update your package list afterward, we promise this will pose no risk whatsoever.

UBUNTU 8.04 Hardy, gOS 3.0 & Derivatives)
deb http://www.tuxsoftware.com/repo/ hardy main

UBUNTU 7.10 Gutsy , gOS 2.0 & Derivatives
deb http://www.tuxsoftware.com/repo/ gutsy main

* Ubuntu users make sure you have all of the Ubuntu repositories
enabled. We also recommend enabling the Medibuntu repo if you
reside in a country or province which permits it..

DEBIAN Testing/Unstable - DreamLinux 3.0+
deb http://www.tuxsoftware.com/repo/ debian main

* Debian Testing users should enable the Multimedia 'Testing'
repository or one  of it's local mirrors if you reside in a country
or province which permits its usage.

STEP 2: Download & Install the Installer.

After updating your packages in the Synaptic Package Manager just search for the 'Linux Software Installer' or the package name 'Lsinstall' and perform the installation. Additional packages may also be installed to meet any unmet dependencies (software requirements).

Commandos just open a terminal and type:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install lsinstall

STEP 3: Check Menu & Run Installer.

Open your Menu or App Finder and browse to System Tools, then click on the application titled 'Search/Install Software'. Enter a description or title into the dialog and hit search. If nothing happens then please consult our Tutorials or Contact Us for a solution. If you are not using Firefox, IceApe, or Konqueror your webbrowser may need to be configured.

Linux Software Installer is based on mintInstall from the LinuxMint distro
.
It is released under the the terms of the GNU General Public License.
